Things have changed a bit since I first published my About Me page. I left my original post below; but, here’s a quick update on a few of the facts:
- I’m now 36.
- We finished remodeling the house we were living in at the time (the same house I had grown up in) and sold it. Now we’re in what I can only describe as my dream home–at least, for now.
- I had another baby…a little boy who I named after my first dad.
- My original goal of writing one post a day for 365 consecutive days was completed on January 15, 2009. I still write regularly enough, but not every single day, although I did do it for one whole year.
- I’m now a columnist for our local daily newspaper and love when I receive emails from my readers who want to tell me they liked what I wrote.
- I still don’t have a picture of myself that I like enough to post.
My original About Me entry (published on 1/03/2008):
About me…hmmm…I have no idea what I want to say about myself. I’m 35. I’m a mom and a wife. I live in the house I grew up in—my husband and I bought it from my dad three years ag0. Even though I am much older than all of my three siblings (9 years, 14 years, and 15 years), I am very, very close to them.
I hate starting sentences with the word ‘I’ but what can you do when it’s about you?
I have a full-time job in Marketing…yawn. I have a shitload of friends. A huge family. I have two dads. One who died two months before I turned four and the other who I got when I was eight and he married my mom (they’re divorced now). I don’t call him my stepdad, he’s my second dad.
I feel blessed in many ways, but I still get pissed when I should just relax. I read a lot. I have a shitload of magazine subscriptions and buy books like it’s my job. I love magazines almost as much as I like using the word shitload. My home office and where I am typing right now used to be a bedroom that my youngest sister and brother shared when they were toddlers; they’re going to be 20 and 21 this year.
I’ve committed myself to write one post a day for a year starting January 15, 2008. The goal: to spend a year getting into the habit of daily writing and finding my voice so that soon I will get compensated handsomely for writing what I want when I want.
I’m not nearly comfortable enough with this to post a picture yet.

I totally loved your story about Brad Pitt. I really like the way you wrote it. If you are not a writer, you should consider it. You would do well, I think. You have a flare for putting words together and letting the reader see the detail themselves. That’s good writing.

Your response to the Peggy DeKay column on Sara Palin was tremendous! So often I sit here astonished at the total disconnect between the GOP on so many issues I care deeply about. Hopefully America has had enough and we’ll turn it around in a few short weeks. Thanks again for saying what millions of us have wanted to.

Amy, I discovered you in the latest issue of AUBURN magazine. I found it interesting that a Hoosier girl went to Auburn and is now back in Indiana living her dream.
I am an old War Eagle. I left Alabama in 1972 with my wife and three young children to go to Japan. After three years I went to Washington, DC for nearly four years. In 1979, a friend called and said I have a job for you in Indianapolis if you want it. I did and have been living in Greenfield since. We have found that Hoosiers are not much different than Alabamans. We decided to retire here.
I keep with the Tigers via the internet. I think this football season is an unknown. Hope it turns outto be great.
Best wishes in all your endeavors!
War Eagle,
